Kenalog® suspension for injection

Kenalog is a remedy for relieving inflammation and severe attacks of allergy. Kenalog belongs to the group of glucocorticoid hormones, but it has a less negative effect on the body compared with similar drugs.
Active substance : Triamcinolone

Pharmacological action:

anti-inflammatory, antiallergic, immunosuppressive, antipruritic.
Kenalog induces generation of lipocortines, inhibits the release of inflammatory mediators by eosinophils, reduces the number of fat cells that produce hyaluronic acid. Reduces capillarypermeability, stabilizes cell membranes . Inhibits the release of cytokines (interleukin 1, 2 gamma interferon) of lymphocytes and macrophages. Increases gluconeogenesis, reduces glucose utilization by tissues and activatescatabolic processes.

Indications :

Hay fever, asthma, chronic bronchitis, spastic, pemphigoid, psoriasis, dermatitis (herpes, atopic, exfoliative, contact non-microbial etiology, eczematous).
Intra-articular: chronic inflammatory diseases of the joints, exudative arthritis, gout, false gout, arthritis, edema of joints, the shoulder joint blockade, chronic inflammation of theinner layer of the joint capsule;
Injection at the affected area: isolated psoriatic plaques, flat nodular lesions, hair loss in the form of a circle, chronic lupus erythematosus, keloids.

Dosage and administration:

Intramuscularly, for systemic treatment of an adult - 1 ml (40 mg) slowly deep inside the buttocks up to 80 mg (repeated administration in 4 weeks).
For intralesional application (bursitis) in adults and children over 12 years - from 10 to 40 mg. The interval between injections - at least 2 weeks.
When the injection under the skin lesions area : 1 ml diluted by local anesthetic and administered 1 mg of the drug per 1 cm2 (not more than 30 mg per day for adults and 10 mg for children). Repeated injection - in 2 weeks.
